I just get $300. I found out my 17 year old does not quailfy as my dependent since she was born in 1990. It kind of stinks since she is still a high school kid and I am providing all her support. Oh well.

That is a good idea but I bet most people simply buy something new with the money. Unfortunately, I don't qualify for the rebate. For me, Uncle Sam just takes, he never gives back.

I know there is a movement in my area to encourage people to spend their economic stimulus checks at small local businesses, but I am afraid that will be just a band-aid for them. If prices do not go down soon for them, many will face either restructuring how they do business or going out of business.
